Kenneth L. Dart, 81, Oblong, Illinois passed away at 11:56 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Ridgeview Care Center, Oblong, Illinois. Born in Licking Township, Crawford County, Illinois on April 8, 1929, he was the son of Ocie Mayfield Dart and Gladys Marie (Battershell) Dart. He was a graduate of Oblong High School ~ Class of 1947. He served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with the State of Illinois Highway Department retiring in 2000; he was also a farmer for most of his life. Kenneth was a member of the White Oak Church, rural Oblong; Oblong American Legion Post #219; Oblong School Board; Soil Conservation District and Licking Township Supervisor. Kenneth enjoyed traveling, gardening, flowers, hunting and especially his grandkids.
On April 7, 1955, Kenneth married Carol Marie Ellis, who preceded him in death on May 1, 2002. Also preceding him in death was his parents and two brothers, John Dart and Gerald Dart.
On July 18, 2003, Kenneth married Norma (Taylor) Thompson, who survives. Also surviving are four sons and daughters-in-law, Greg & Lori Dart, Kevin & Darlene Dart, Oren & Tina Dart and Bradley Dart; one brother, Stanley Dart; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jean & Charlie Bubb and Shirley & Warren Stout; five step children, Connie & Steve Ames, Ronnie & Glenda Allen, Bart & Tammy Allen, Judy Phillippe and Todd Allen; several nieces and nephews; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe & Ruth Accardo and a sister-in-law, Carolyn Ellis.
Burial will be in the Hutsonville Cemetery, Hutsonville, Illinois.
